Bridge To The Motherland: An Invitation To Grow In Ghana

"A people without knowledge of their past is like a tree without roots."
~ Marcus Garvey

Our Mission

Motherland International Relations (MIR) is a 501C3 non-profit organization that serves as a bridge to Africa through service-oriented educational journeys. We support appropriate technologies and sustainable agricultural programs in Africa and the Diaspora. Motherland International Relations seeks relationships with complementary organizations to renew all through cooperation.

African Solutions, Innovation, and Co-operation

Our action focuses on reenvisioning Alkebulon/Africa as a source of solutions in tune with the following teaching from Paramount Chief Nana Nketsia V, a Professor at the University of Cape Coast and an Engagement Facilitator.

"Change a paradigm and everything else will change."

"The only training in freedom is to be free."

"Culture is rooted to land and emerges as a revelation of a society's ancestral interplay with a defined environment...Real development is a creative phenomenon.  It arises out of the culture of the people"

Enter the Bowels of the Cape Coast Dungeons

Enter the Bowels of the Cape Coast Dungeons

A profound pilgrimage to these historical sites where the door of no return existed when people were packed into the middle passage. Today a door of return exists to re-emerge as free beings confronting the harrowing realities of the slave trade/raid. Participate in a guided tour by Kwesi Essel-Blankson who has taken President Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, artist Lauryn Hill and many others through these chilling spaces for decades. We will debrief and reflect later with members of our on-the-ground team.

Busua Beach

Busua Beach

A special fishing village meets modern tourism in the Western Region of Ghana. This is where Christopher Keiser first came in 1997 and rented land down the beach on a hill for 99 years. The homestead now has a well, house, toilet, water catchment, and many fruit-bearing trees including cashew, mango, coconut, avocado, and his favorite; moringa.
