Travel FAQs
What is included in the travel package?
The travel package includes international airfare, accommodations, meals, guided tours, transportation within Ghana, and entry fees to various attractions.
Passport fees, visa, and travel insurance are not covered.
How do you ensure the safety and comfort of participants?
Safety is a top priority. With our Co-Directors having lived in Ghana and our collaborators in country being safety conscious, we provide the safest experience possible. The two most dangerous aspects of the trip are driving and we have safe drivers and swimming in the ocean related to rip tides, which we go over extensively when at the beach. Our accommodations are carefully selected for comfort and security. During orientation we also provide detailed pre-departure information to help you prepare for your trip, including health and safety tips, packing lists, and cultural guidelines.
Do I need any vaccinations or special health precautions for the trip?
Yes, certain vaccinations are required for travel to Ghana, including Yellow Fever. Other vaccinations such as: Hepatitis A, and Typhoid should be given consideration. We advise consulting with a travel health specialist or your doctor well in advance of your trip to ensure you are up-to-date on necessary vaccinations and to discuss any other health precautions.
How can I prepare for the trip, and what should I pack?
We provide a detailed packing list and pre-departure guide to help you prepare for your trip during orientation. Essential items to pack include comfortable walking shoes, lightweight and breathable clothing, a hat and sunscreen, insect repellent, a flashlight, any necessary medications, and a water bottle. We recommend bringing a small daypack for daily excursions.
Who can join the trip, and is there an age requirement?
The journey is open to anyone who feels called to the Motherland and Ghana’s rich culture and history. We have facilitated programs with students as young as twelve years of age. Our trips involve moderate physical activity, so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
